Year 5 Win 24 Tournament
Year 5 children spent the morning in a tense mental maths competition at Burntwood School. Only three children were selected from all of Year 5 to represent the school at The Wandsworth 24 Game Tournament; these children were Bilal, Noraiz and Affan.
The 24 Game requires children to use quick mental methods against their opponents. The object of the game is to make the number 24 from the four numbers on a game card. You can add, subtract, multiply and divide. Use all four numbers on the card, but use each number only once. You do not have to use all four operations.
There were many schools from all over Wandsworth; Hillbrook’s team did incredibly well, and faced some stiff competition, but won the final by a convincing 50 points! Bilal was awarded the Bronze Prize for the 3rdhighest individual score and Affan was awarded the Silver Prize for the 2nd highest individual score.
